Inshore Guided Fly and Light Tackle Fishing
Off the Beaches, on the Flats, and in the Backcountry

of Sarasota, Matlacha Pass, Pine Island Sound, and Charlotte Harbor

With Capt. Greg Bowdish

Welcome to Barflyfish.com! As a professional fly fishing guide, FFF Certified Fly Casting Instructor, outdoor writer and photographer, and a member of the Ocean Kayak Pro Staff, my specialty is helping anglers of all ages and walks of life to improve their skills and proficiency, whether it be with a fly rod or light tackle spinning rod, by boat or by kayak. Saltwater fly fishing is one of the toughest pursuits in all of angling and I am very committed to the sport and the anglers I fish with. If you haven't felt confident in your saltwater fly fishing skills, I can help!

I am especially committed to helping fly anglers improve their casting skills and have the patience to see that you come away from our time together a much wiser and more skilled fly caster

What's New on Barflyfish.com?

THE BABY TARPON ARE HERE!!!

Recent rains have really fired up the fishing and pushed the smaller backcountry tarpon out of hiding. What has started out as a slow year promises to be one of the best tarpon seasons we have had in a long time. I still have openings for June, July, and August which are the prime fishing months here. E-mail me ASAP for available dates.

Congratulations to Fred on a successful first fly fishing trip in the the salt. We fished Matlacha and Fred caught many different species including snook, jack crevalle, ladyfish, snapper, and this nice baby tarpon. Way to go, Fred!

KAYAK-FISH-FLORIDA.COM IS UP AND RUNNING!!!!
I have a new website up dedicated purely to kayak fishing - Kayak-fish-florida.com. There is a lot of great fly fishing info on both sites, but if you are into kayak fly fishing, then definitely check out Kayak-fish-florida.com

"GAME ON" KAYAK FISHING DVD HAS BEEN RELEASED!!!
Last May, I was involved with a project to capture big game tarpon fishing out of kayaks on video. World champion white water kayaker Ken Whiting had the idea for the video and his company, Heliconia Press is the foremost name in kayak DVD's and Books. Hosted by kayak fishing legend Jim Sammons of La Jolla Kayak Fishing, the video also features the work of legendary photographer, Jock Bradley and Videographers Extroardinaire Lisa Utronki and Will Richardson. Despite dealing with the windiest May and some of the hardest tarpon fishing I can ever remember, we did get our fish and in the process had one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had on the water - we fished the Boca Grande hill tide in kayaks! Visit www.kayakfishingmovie.com to see a trailer or get your copy of the video. You can also read my write up about the experience on www.kayak-fish-florida.com.

Book Now for Guided Fishing aboard "Barfly"
my 16' Dolphin Super Skiff

The waters of the Florida Gulf Coast have everything to offer the traveling angler, including expansive grass flats; mangrove shorelines; wind-protected backcountry; some of the best snook, redfish, and tarpon fishing in the world. My favorite fly fishing areas include Sarasota Bay, Bishop Harbor, The Manatee River, Matlacha Pass, Pine Island Sound, Charlotte Harbor, and the Gulf. Here one can encounter a wide variety of fly fish-able species and habitats. Inthe backcountry, I strictly pole my skiff and if you want a fly only trip, you will not be handed a spinning rod or have to endure chumming - I am a fly angler as well as a fly guide! I also offer night time fly fishing trips for snook and tarpon at night in Sarasota Bay. For rates and FAQ's, visit my Guided Fishing by Boat page.

Also offering Guided Kayak Fishing Trips

If you haven't yet tried kayak fishing, you have no idea what you are missing! As part of the Ocean Kayak Pro Staff and as a well known kayak fishing speaker, writer, and instructor, I specialize in teaching kayak fishing and paddling skills. I offer personalized kayak fishing and touring trips for up to 4 people n both backcountry and offshore settings. While I focus primarily on fly fishing on my boat charters, I offer both fly and spin on the kayak trips. Visit my Guided Kayak Fishing page for more details!
