Matlacha
and Cape Coral, Forida
Accomodations and Area Information
| Although
Cape Coral is one of the largest and fastest growing surburban
areas in Florida, its vast and protected mangrove buffer on
the eastern shore of Matlacha Pass makes it a vibrant fishery
and ideal destination for the traveling fly fisher. Also boasting
an extensive canal system, fantastic tarpon fishing in the Calooosahatchee
River and some of the best night snook fishing in the state,
Cape Coral has much to offer beneath its urban sprawl. |
The
Matlacha Pass Bridge -
"The most fishingest bridge in the world!"
|
For a
true Old Florida Getaway, however, the rustic fishing village
of Matlacha can't be beat. With plenty of waterfront hotels,
bars, and restaurants, you are never more than a stones throw
away from great fly fishing.
Whether
you prefer the city or the village, you will find the accomodations
you are looking for as you plan your Matlacha Pass Fly Fishing
Adventure. The links below will take you to fly fisher friendly
people and places. Enjoy your stay!

ACCOMODATIONS
|
|
Rates
vary depending on season, but in general you can expect to
pay as little as $49 a night to as much as $170. Weekly rates
can be as little as $270. All the above quotes are for a room
near the water with a place to dock your boat. Fishermen are
welcome here, so the piles of fly rods and the smelly flats
booties outside your hotel room door will be met with a smile.

| RESTAURANTS
|
|
While
at first glance Cape Coral might seem more modern and civilized,
the best dining experiences will be had in the tiny fishing
village of Matlacha. Here you will find a variety of great
restaurants all on or near the water and all within walking
distance of the Matlacha bridge.
